Why choosing the right license for your audio matters

If you use commercially unlicensed music or audio, TikTok can remove the audio from your video without notice, based on Community Guidelines.

If your audio has been removed due to a copyright issue, you may be able to get new audio for your video by going to your video and clicking on the notification that audio has been removed – View details.

If you see an option on the next screen to change the sound, you can choose a new sound for your video.

Note that if you talk in your video, it’s all gone. Changing the voice in your video will not bring back the speaking part of the audio.

This can be exceptionally frustrating if you’re a content creator who spends a lot of time editing video content to match the audio.

How to protect your audio choices

In addition to selecting commercially licensed audio from TikTok’s audio library, you can prevent your audio from being removed by TikTok by going to Creator Tools in the TikTok app.

You can toggle the option to perform a copyright check on your audio before publishing your video.
