There’s a New Mercedes GLB SUV on the Way for 2024

The GLB 250 SUV occupies a unique place in the Mercedes range. For many, it’s like a Goldilocks SUV, bigger than a GLA and smaller than a GLC. Basically, though, it’s one of the best ways to get into a three-pointed star for under $40,000. However, the GLB will receive a facelift for 2024.

The GLB was launched in 2019

Mercedes had success with the little ones in the early 2010s with the block SUVs of the GLK series. Then, with the launch of the GLC, it established itself as a real player in the compact SUV game. That SUV was a big hit and became Mercedes’ best-selling SUV to date.

to slot in between the tall, sedan-like GLA SUV that is based on a car, and the GLC. But, unlike those and most others in this class, the GLB 250 can be ordered with a third row. It’s one of the smallest SUVs with an optional third row, but it can fit smaller people if needed.

For 2024, it will get its first major facelift

The GLB has remained largely the same since it was launched in 2019. According to , the new facelift will update the front-end styling of the GLB. Most likely, it will share a family resemblance to the all-electric version of the GLB, the EQB. It could also add Mercedes’ 48-volt mild-hybrid system, which doesn’t add much power but provides the electricity to run the new technology Mercedes adds to most SUVs. But let’s hope it stays.

It may look like the EQB all-electric SUV

Speaking of the SUV, that SUV shares several body panels with the GLB. The grille, however, takes on the cliché of the smooth EV front end. It’s hard to see under the camouflage of the Mercedes test mules what the new GLB will look like, but it will probably take its cue from the front end of the EQB. Inside, it has the double-cabin that Mercedes is pushing into nearly every other SUV the company builds.

The GLC also recently received a major update

For 2023, Mercedes . The major update updated the styling, engines and interior. Mercedes also added some off-roader goodies, like a trail cam and beefier all-wheel drive system. Whether the GLB will get those off-road upgrades remains to be seen, but GLB has slotted into the lineup as a luxury people hauler rather than a rough-hewn SUV.
