In 2022, Ranger sales are down. Although this midsize truck has a lot to love, the Ranger is starting to feel outdated. In addition, the next generation is rumored to be on the way. Despite the downturn in sales, the Ranger managed to beat one pickup. This is the GMC Canyon. So what’s the deal with the two worst-selling midsize trucks of 2022?
Is the Ford Ranger a good truck?
The Ford Ranger is pretty good as a mid-size pickup. It can tow up to 7,500 pounds and delivers 270 horsepower. And every truck should feature things like the FX4 package, which should help with off-road use if you choose to do so.
Canyon for 2022. Ford moved 57,005 units, and according to GMC, it sold 27,819 Canyon trucks. The only other midsize truck with similar numbers is the Honda Ridgeline. Place the guard and valley in the bottom of the barrel.
Now, in 2023, this could see a surge in popularity. GM’s midsize truck is all new for this year, including the Chevy Colorado. With that comes a number of new features, better design, and improved comfort. So, until the new Ranger arrives, consumers will probably be looking forward to the Valley. Although it is worth noting that Colorado is closer in terms of price.
When can the 2024 Ford Ranger be ordered?
It’s not yet available, but orders should open sometime in 2024. If the Ford Maverick is any indication, getting the next-gen Ranger could be a tricky task. This is especially true if you’re looking for something like the Ford Ranger Raptor.
Although some supply chain issues have been resolved, some automakers are struggling to keep up with demand. Trucks are some of the hottest vehicles on the market today, so it makes sense that many people are likely waiting to place an order on the 2024 Ranger.
Once these orders open, I wouldn’t be surprised if they get closed soon after. Some orders were even having difficulties depending on the configuration. That can make it very difficult for consumers to get the pickup truck they actually want.
