The 2024 Ram Dakota Could Surface in March

We’ve been following some gossip about Dakota for months now. It could return as a compact truck to battle the Ford Maverick. However, only a few verbal hints and hints emerged from Stellantis’ staff. Now our hopes are up again because we have new evidence to assess.

Is the 2024 Ram Dakota on the road?

Perhaps, Stellantis could work on a new compact truck like 2024 to battle the incredibly popular Ford Maverick. She shared that she had received an idea for a new concept truck that will debut in March.

They are still kept under wraps. However, it could be based on the Ram 1200. There are a few spy shots of the new Ram 1200 floating around, but they’re heavily covered under camouflage.

It’s possible that the Ram Dakota could be a facelifted 1200. We don’t have a Ram 1200 in America, but we can enjoy its cousin. It will be similar to how other countries have Toyota Hilux, we have Toyota Tacoma.

Based on the latest batch of spy shots, the potential Ram Dakota looks like a mid-size truck. We can speculate that it rides on the STLA medium platform rather than the large platform. Both options support electricity.

Interestingly, the smaller truck is no match for any current Ram models. It has round headlights like the Jeep Commander and Jeep Renegade.

So, are we likely to look at the new Jeep Renegade? There was a Jeep Renegade concept truck at the Easter Jeep Safari in 2016.

How much power will the 2024 Dakota have?

There are plenty of engine possibilities for a potential 2024 year. But we’re interested in the Dodge Hornet’s powertrain. It uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 265 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque.

The Dodge Hornet PHEV uses a turbocharged 1.3-liter four-cylinder engine paired with an electric motor and a 15.5-kWh battery pack to produce 288 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. It has up to 30 miles of electric range on a single charge, which puts it in Ford Maverick Hybrid territory.

However, the Dodge Hornet PHEV can be paired with AWD while the Ford Maverick Hybrid cannot. It will have a capable and athletic edge.

The Hornet GT starts at under $30,000, making it the fastest and most affordable option in the class. Perhaps Dodge Dakota will use parts from the Renegade and Hornet to give us an affordable, capable, and practical option.

We’ll be waiting for more clues. Hopefully, Mike Koval will let us know how the meeting goes in March.
