Snapchat+ Adds New Features, Reaches 1 Million Subscribers

In the six weeks after launch, Snapchat+ has amassed more than 1 million subscribers. Building on this momentum, Snapchat+ is launching four new features at no additional cost.

Snapchat+ is a premium membership tier that grants access to exclusive features.

The service launched with a few offerings, including:

  • Snapchat + badge.
  • “Ghost Trails”, which is the ability to see where your friends have been in the last 24 hours.
  • The ability to see who has rewatched your snaps.
  • The option to set and pin your Best Friend to the top of your feed.
  • Various exclusive icons and themes.

Subscribers will get more out of their membership with four additional benefits – here’s what’s new.

Four new features for Snapchat+

New features for Snapchat+, which will be rolling out this week, include:

  • Priority story responsesYour responses will be more visible to influencers and celebrities.
  • Emojis after the show: Show people a specific emoji after they’ve seen your snaps.
  • Bitmoji wallpapers: More options when selecting a wallpaper for your bitmoji.
  • Application icons: Change the Snapchat icon on your home screen to one of many new designs.

Based on features alone, Snapchat+ is a better start than similar subscription service Twitter Blue.

Twitter Blue is not only more expensive at $4.99 per month, but it also offers fewer features than Snapchat+.

Twitter did not disclose the number of premium subscribers it has. However, there is evidence to suggest that the service is not performing well.

According to Twitter Q2 2022 Earnings reportRevenue from “subscriptions and other sources” declined 36% year-over-year.

The success of Snapchat+ is reassuring, as Snap Inc published a very disappointing earnings report last month for its stock decreased 25%. Snapchat now finds itself on the rise after amassing more than 1 million paid Snapchat+ subscribers.

This is good for Snapchatters and marketers as it is one of the best apps to reach Gen Z customers.

  • 70% of Snapchatters between the ages of 16-24 don’t use Twitter on a daily basis.
  • 63% of Snapchatters between the ages of 16-24 don’t use Facebook every day.
  • 42% of Snapchatters between the ages of 16-24 don’t use TikTok daily.

Snapchat has a unique value proposition for marketers. Even if you’re not excited about the new additions to the premium service, this is good news for Snapchat’s longevity.
