Reservations for the Ram 1500 REV are filling up
After just five days, bookings for the electric Ram truck were filling up. Now, these are just reservations, so it’s possible for people to cancel. But it’s impressive that so many people are interested in the benefits of an electric truck. Especially when the estimated MSRP is over $55,000.
Personally, I think it makes sense that reservations filled up so quickly. On paper, he looks like a real winner. It will use an 800-volt architecture, which allows it to have the same charging capacity as the Hummer EV. Another feature is that it looks like a truck.
Sometimes it seems that manufacturers are trying to make EVs stand out too much. Have you seen a Tesla Cybertruck? Less styling can be more when it comes to these vehicles.
Should you buy an electric truck?
Truck manufacturers obviously take electrification seriously, and an electric truck could be right for you. Now, they tend to be more expensive than a petrol truck. And it’s important to note that things like range can go down dramatically if you’re actually dragging something.
Another problem could be infrastructure fees. The Biden administration is improving in the United States. But this has not happened yet. Because of this, things like road trips can get a little tricky when it comes to EV charging.
However, the Ram 1500 REV isn’t expected to arrive until 2025. By then, charging stations could have improved dramatically.
