The Toyota Tacoma EV doesn’t have an exact release date or production date yet, but evidence suggests that an electric truck is in the works. We’ll likely see the next-generation Tacoma arrive first.

This is similar to the Tacoma. In addition, Toyota would like to introduce 15 new electric cars by 2025. So they could be on their way to arrive within the next two years.

According to people can not wait. The earlier the better because the survey shows that most truck owners aren’t interested in the Tacoma EV. They chose it over the Ford F-150 Lightning, Rivian R1T, and Tesla Cybertruck.

Existing truck owners would choose the F-150 Lightning over competitors, but the Tacoma EV landed in second place. This means that it is already squeezing the competition, and it hasn’t arrived yet!

What do we know about the electric Tacoma?

The electric vehicle is expected to run on a modified version of the TNGA-F platform. The platform will be modified to support electric and hybrid vehicles. We’ll likely see the Tacoma Hybrid first.

Also, it will remind the Tacoma EV of its rugged roots with significant off-road upgrades. It likely rides on aluminum alloy wheels wrapped in beefy 35-inch all-terrain tires. Also, it can feature skid plates, retrieve hooks, modified control arms, and leaf spring suspension.

Rumor has it that the Electric Tacoma will have advanced software to quickly bring new ideas to customers. Therefore, it will likely contain over-the-air (OTA) updates. Two different companies can operate on the software platform.

Long-lasting, durable batteries are an important key to success and reliability. The bZ4X battery has a specific target of 90 percent endurance performance. The Tacoma EV’s range can be anywhere from 200 to 300 miles.

Official pricing for these devices has not been released, but rumor has it that they will start at around $40,000. This would provide a more affordable price vs. the Ford F-150 Lightning and could be close to the cost of the Ford Ranger EV.

The Toyota Tacoma EV TRD Pro could increase in price to around $55,000, and the limited luxury model could start at around $60,000. Battery upgrades will likely be available, and we can expect a standard 4×4.

We’ve already seen the concept with a covered grille to improve aerodynamics. It has the appearance of a similarly sized Tacoma. It looks like the production is almost ready! But updates are still rare.

Toyota may release an update during the New York Auto Show in the spring. We will continue to track the progress of the next generation. Stay tuned for the latest updates.
