New Study Proves Ram Is Focused on Improvement

There are several reasons for wanting trucks. It has a bold exterior design and good interior, provides a comfortable and upscale ride, has good resale value, and is known for its impressive power and capabilities, such as the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX’s 702-horsepower engine, which is one of the most powerful pickup ever built.

JD Power’s 2023 US Vehicle Dependability Study (VDS) provided another compelling reason to consider it by demonstrating the company’s commitment to improvement.

.

The vehicles examined in the questionnaire were first screened in the JD Power Initial Quality Study (IQS), which was conducted when they were 90 days old. Both studies aim to help automakers design and build better, more reliable cars and help consumers make informed choices to improve their ownership experience.

The study collects data on vehicle reliability from thousands of original vehicle owners. The 2023 study was conducted on 30,062 original owners of 2020 model year vehicles, and the 2022 study was conducted on 29,487 original owners of 2019 model year vehicles.

The survey, which will be redesigned in 2022, assesses 184 symptoms of the problem during the previous year of ownership across nine major vehicle categories:

  • the outside
  • driving experience
  • Features / Controls / Displays (FCD)
  • Driving assistance
  • Information and entertainment
  • Seating
  • climate
  • internal
  • powertrain

Using the collected data, JD Power creates a reliability rating for each vehicle inspected, expressed as the number of problems per 100 vehicles (PP100). For example, a car with 10 PP100s had 10 problems per 100 over the past 12 months.

Ram’s commitment to improvement

The brands with the fewest problems per 100 vehicles are the brands with the most problems. And if the number of problems for a particular brand or model decreases from year to year, this indicates that the manufacturer is taking steps to improve the reliability and quality of its vehicles.

In the 1960s, it was the Ram 266 PP100. It was the second most reliable brand. Land Rover was the most reliable, with 284 problems per hundred vehicles. In VDS, the Ram improved by 77 PP100 to 189 PP100. It had the biggest improvement, followed by Volvo (41 PP100 improvement) and Nissan (35 PP100 improvement).

Additionally, in the three years between IQS and VDS, Ram had a smaller increase in problems in 2020 models than it did in 2019 model year vehicles. It had 105 PP100s in 2019 IQS, which increased by more than 160 to 266 PP100s by 2022. In 2020 IQS, it had a 141 PP100, which has only increased from 48 to 189 by 2023. That’s an impressive improvement.

The improved PP100 indicates that Ram is committed to improvement and is taking steps to make its vehicles more reliable. Shows that he actively listens to customer feedback and addresses their issues to improve the customer ownership experience.

Customers are more likely to buy from, recommend, or partner with a brand that shows they care about their customers and their satisfaction and actively promote it.
