New Shelby Mustang S650 Spied in Testing: What Could It Be?

A quick look at the car’s aggressive grille and lower fascia is reminiscent of the S550 GT350, a track-ready sixth-generation Mustang with a high-speed soundtrack for its distinction. What’s more, the aggressive ride height and ventilated hood suggest the car intends to be a sharper option than the upcoming GT.

However, without a prominent rear spoiler or floor-kissing spacer, this is unlikely to be the next GT500. Alternatively, it could be the successor to the GT350. Even more exciting, it could be the return of the Shelby GT, an accessible performance variation of the Mustang GT. The next-generation version of the Horst-equipped Shelby GT could be a leading part of the blue oval muscle car lineup.

Will the S650 have a Shelby?

The S650 lineup of Ford Mustangs will include a Shelby, but not yet. Instead, Ford will carry the V8-powered EcoBoost and GT. What’s more, Ford will begin selling the all-new Dark Horse performance version.
