Microsoft Video Ads Are Now Broadly Available

Video ads on the Microsoft Audience Network are now widely available to augment existing search and image ad campaigns.

Microsoft launched beta video ads in September 2021 in select countries.

Over a year later, video ads are available to all Microsoft advertisers in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Australia, and New Zealand.

Video ads are served through the Microsoft advertising network in the countries listed above.

Microsoft video ads are targeted using intended data from Bing search, Microsoft Edge browser, LinkedIn, and users’ web activity.

During testing, Microsoft says adding video to search campaigns increased conversions by 50% compared to running a search-only campaign.

Microsoft Video Advertising Specification

Microsoft’s video ads can range from six seconds to two minutes, although the company advises that videos shorter than 30 seconds lead to the most engagement.

The video aspect ratio can range from 16:9 (widescreen) to 16:9 (portrait).

Microsoft offers the following bidding options for video ads:

  • Improving impressions: bid per 1,000 viewable impressions. An impression is counted when a viewer watches 2 seconds of continuous playback.
  • Improve views: bid on watching one video. A view is counted when someone watches at least 15 seconds of a video or clicks on an ad.
  • Optimization for clicks: Bid per click on the video. A click is counted when a viewer lands on your website.

How to create a microsoft video campaign

Create a Microsoft video advertising campaign by following these steps:

  • From the collapsible menu on the left, select campaigns.
  • Choose Create a campaign.
  • Choose one of the video-oriented targets.
  • Enter the campaign name and daily budget, then select Memorizes And go to the next step.
  • Enter an ad group name and select Target audience.
  • Choose Memorizes And go to the next step.
  • Add your video.
  • Choose Memorizes And go to the next step.
  • Choose your own Budget and bids settings.
  • Choose Memorizes.

After you upload your video, Microsoft Advertising will automatically create multiple videos for each aspect ratio (16:9, 5:4, 1:1, 4:5, 9:16). Alternatively, you can upload your videos in every available aspect ratio.
