What does the Escape and Bronco Sport lawsuit cover?

The lawsuit involving the Ford Escape was recently filed in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, alleging that Ford Motor Company violated consumer protection laws.

Ford was reportedly selling vehicles with faulty fuel injectors, causing spontaneous fires. This could increase the risk of accidents and injuries. Furthermore, Ford failed to implement a suitable solution.

There have been approximately 54 fires in Ford Bronco Sport and Ford Escape models, and 17 of those are related to ruptured injectors.

The plaintiffs allege that Ford knew or should have known about this defect before the vehicles went to market and took deliberate steps to cover it up. The 2021 Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator had a similar fire problem with similar results.

Although Ford has issued a recall with a potential solution, the lawsuit claims Ford has not provided an effective solution. As a result, they are left with SUVs with serious environmental and safety risks.

Steve Berman, the managing partner of Hagens Berman, shared that safety should be the top priority. Ford should have made a full fire risk disclosure before selling the SUVs or issuing a stop-sale.

Adding a drain hose to simply divert fuel isn’t a solid fix for a bad fuel injector. Ford had a responsibility to be transparent with customers immediately upon becoming aware of the fires. Instead, it hid the truth from customers and violated the terms of its warranty.

At-risk owners should have already been informed when their spare parts will arrive. So, that might make this lawsuit even more interesting! We’ll keep track of this fiery lawsuit to see how things play out. Stay tuned for the latest updates.
