Being a mid-size, the Ford Ranger brings a lot to the table. You get a body-on-frame pickup, a turbocharged engine, and the option for some off-road goodies. But here in the States, we might miss out on the ultimate guard. This is basically a small version of the Ford F-150 Raptor.
Is there a Ford Ranger Raptor?
On the global market, there is the Ranger Raptor. We don’t get it here in the States. That may change soon, however, as it is rumored that Blue Oval will be bringing it to our shores. This is a rather exciting prospect.
Ford has already confirmed the existence of the Ranger Raptor for the USA. But it’s not expected to arrive until 2024. We’re not sure how much it will cost, but it will certainly be the final and most expensive version of the Ranger.
Ranger Raptor is on its way
In terms of the engine, it is expected to get a 3.0-liter V6. This engine will have two turbines, likely making 392 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. That’s certainly more powerful than the current Ranger, a truck that doesn’t even have an optional V6.
Other changes will include front and rear locking differentials. This will help you maintain traction if you choose to go off-road with your midsize truck. And if you’re going to get a Ranger Raptor, that’s definitely something you should do.
The Ranger Raptor will also have some improved ground clearance and other things to help with life on the road. Just to share my opinion, on paper this looks like a pretty fun truck. If you’re familiar with Ford’s other Raptor models, like the Bronco and F-150, you know these vehicles are built for adventure.
Can you get a Ford Ranger Raptor?
If you want to get hold of this mid-size truck, it can be somewhat difficult. Blue Oval has struggled to keep up with the demand for its popular vehicles. Think about how difficult it must be to go out and buy a new Maverick truck. Doing so is almost impossible in the current climate.
Since 2024 will mark the latest generation of these pickups, they are sure to be a hot commodity. When Ford first reintroduced the Ranger for the 2019 model year, we already got the older version compared to places like Australia. Because of that, it felt a bit dated right from the start.
With the next generation Ranger, it’s easy to see people have a lot of interest, especially for the Raptor model, which gives this midsize truck even more potential. Of course, we won’t really know until Ford officially opens up the order books.
Overall, we seem lost with the lack of a Raptor version of the Ranger. But it looks like the blue oval will remedy that with its introduction here in the States.
