Squarespace has announced an expansion of its monetization platform in member areas which now allows publishers to host and monetize video content. New capabilities make it easier for publishers to sell access to video content and create a new revenue stream.

Squarespace is a website building platform that helps publishers create online stores, an online presence for a local store or simply create a blog.
In response to rapidly changing trends, Squarespace has come up with a program called member areas It allowed publishers to make money selling educational and other types of content online through members-only sections of the Squarespace website.

Squarespace announced today that it is now fully video-capable and that publishers can now host videos entirely on Squarespace and sell access to them across the platform.
Squarespace handles all the video hosting and fee infrastructure. Publishers can choose to charge a one-time fee or a recurring fee.
According to Squarespace:
Selling access to video content: With member areas, customers can choose to charge a one-time or recurring fee to access their video content.
Host video directly on Squarespace: Squarespace now supports native video hosting on our platform, as well as externally hosted videos on YouTube and Vimeo.
Video Hosting Storage: All customers will be able to upload up to 30 minutes of HD video content to their website for free.
Take advantage of our new video player: All videos hosted in Squarespace will play on our new video player with intuitive playback, speed controls, resolution controls, and deep integration into the Squarespace platform.
Customize video details: Titles, descriptions, URLs, custom thumbnails, metadata and more can be fully customized.
Commercial video content: Videos can be easily categorized, arranged, and designed to best represent the client’s brand.”

The new video platform allows publishers to sell access to members-only recorded video content. This provides local businesses and entrepreneurs with an opportunity to offer services such as online classes to a wider audience, giving businesses and individuals a new way to earn income.
