Drivers With Vanity License Plates Are Dumber With Lower IQ in Study

Vanity license plates are a common target of ridicule and scorn. As the name implies, some people consider them “vain” – broadcasting excessively high self-esteem, abilities, wealth or other possessions. With these sentiments in mind, the results of a recent study are interesting. Found that drivers are stupid with a lower IQ.

First off, we’re not here to judge drivers with unique number plates. People get custom boards for various reasons – and it’s not always selfish. Some drivers ask them to promote their business, while others like to add a dose of humor.

2,000 drivers took an intelligence quotient (IQ) test. They were divided into two groups. Drivers in one group have license plates for their cars, while others do not. An intelligence test measures a person’s level of intelligence – through a series of standardized tests.

And in the study, egotistical drivers are stupid with lower IQs. Their average IQ score is 91.95, while those without character boards have an average score of 94.15.

While many are sarcastic, vanity license plates are sometimes a great source of humor. This is particularly the case when they point intelligently at the vehicle. As detailed before, here are some hilarious examples:

  • EEW A Bug (VW Beetle)
  • Vlad (Chevy Impala)
  • UR NEXT (Hearse)
  • TIMELESS (DeLorean)
  • Tired (towing a truck)
  • and difficult (difficult)
  • OH I FIT (Intelligent Car Parked in a Confined Space)
  • N BYOND (INFINITI)
  • CLR BLND (car with a mixture of many colors)
  • Pikachu (yellow Ferrari)
  • NOOB (Driving Education for Student Drivers)
  • rubiks (nissan cube)
  • POO 4EVA (Drain Cleaning Cart)

Studies show the intelligence — and stupidity — of other types of drivers

In addition to studying the IQ of drivers who use vanity license plates, Scrap Car Comparison has done similar studies of other types of drivers. This includes owners of different car brands. For this study, drivers of cars, a car brand from the Czech Republic, are the smartest with the highest IQ, with Suzuki and Peugeot taking the second and third places.

On the other hand, the Land Rover drivers in the study were the dumbest drivers with the lowest IQs, followed by Fiat and BMW. Also, in a previous study, it was found to be the most common psychological disorder.

Another study looked at the relationship between car color and owners’ IQ. Drivers of white cars were the smartest with the highest IQ, while drivers of gray cars were second. On the contrary, the owners of green cars are the most stupid with the lowest IQ, followed by those with silver cars.

But I advise not to take the results of these studies too seriously. They’re all made by the same company, and haven’t been peer-reviewed, so they don’t necessarily reflect reality. However, the studies inspire some reflection on how cars and vehicle features relate to drivers.
