Drivers Consider the Honda CR-V More Than the Toyota RAV4

The numbers are there and we have an interesting win for the CR-V over the Toyota RAV4. Drivers bought and considered buying more of the 2022 Toyota RAV4, but that didn’t exactly translate into increased sales.

The 2022 and 2022 RAV4 both have pros and cons to consider. Plus, it’s hard to go wrong with either option. Both of these SUVs are spacious, reliable, safe and fuel efficient.

The Chevy Tahoe finished in fourth place and the Dodge Durango in fifth. But just because people have thought about buying the CR-V, more doesn’t mean they have. The 2022 RAV4 has sold 399,941 models and the 2022 CR-V has sold 238,155 units.

That doesn’t mean the RAV4 is necessarily better. In fact, the CR-V surpasses the RAV4 in comfort. The CR-V faces production issues due to shortages in the supply chain and may have less available inventory.

Is the 2022 CR-V more reliable than the 2022 RAV4?

The 2022 Honda CR-V is rated slightly higher than JDPower’s reliability scores. The CR-V scored 84 out of 100 points, while the RAV4 scored 81 points.

Anything between 91 and 100 is considered the best, but scores between 81 and 90 are still great. These are above-average scores, and the CR-V is ahead by just three points.

The average Honda CR-V model is expected to run between 250,000 and 300,000 miles. Some models will exceed 300,000 miles with proper care and maintenance. This can provide 16 to 20 years of road service.

You can expect the average Toyota RAV4 model to run between 200,000 and 250,000 miles, but it’s not uncommon to hit 300,000 miles. The RAV4 can provide approximately 16 years of service. But we can conclude that the CR-V is a little more reliable.

While the 2022 and 2022 Honda CR-V are similar in size, the CR-V is slightly larger. The CR-V offers 39.2 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seat and up to 75.8 cubic feet total.

With the RAV4, you get up to 37.6 cubic feet of cargo space in the rear with up to 69.7 cubes overall. The CR-V also has a little more room for passengers. The CR-V has a smooth ride and a quieter interior as well.

But the CR-V can only tow up to 1,500 pounds while the RAV4 can tow up to 3,500 pounds. Plus, the RAV4 TRD Off-Road model features off-road upgrades to tackle the wilderness. The CR-V has AWD but no dedicated off-road trim.

People might consider buying the CR-V more because it’s reliable, comfortable, and roomy. But the RAV4 outperforms the CR-V and has plenty of benefits to consider, too.
