Dodge Charger Tops TrueCar’s List of Fast Sedans for 2023

The days may be numbered, but they will not pass quietly. Instead, the outgoing 2023 Dodge Charger and its brute force took the top spot on TrueCar’s list of top-class fast sedans for 2023. However, it’s not alone on the list; Many other sport sedans offer surprisingly quick acceleration and performance, such as the 2023 Cadillac CT5-V and BMW M5.

What is a good fast sedan?

Accordingly, sports sedans are some of the best fast four-door options on the market for 2023:

V8 engine and the 6.2-liter Hellcat V8 engine. The entry-level SXT and GT trims offer a 303-hp V6 engine with optional all-wheel drive (AWD).

Still, TrueCar praises the Charger for its “strong performance car with sedan practicality advantages” and the smile-inducing power of the V8 engine. As a result, the Dodge models with credentials that top the list are the 485-hp R/T Scat Pack and the supercharged Hellcat models. In fact, the 797-hp SRT Hellcat Redeye can hit 60 mph in less than 3.5 seconds.

Why did the Dodge Charger stop production?

The 2023 Dodge Charger may have stolen the top spot on TrueCar’s list, but the automaker has discontinued the Charger to continue the industry’s push for alternative power options. For example, Dodge has the potential to inject power into the brand’s muscle car image.

What is the 0-60 mph time on the 2023 CT5-V?

The 2023 Cadillac CT5-V is an appropriately fast sports sedan. The twin-turbo V6-powered CT5-V can hit 60 mph in 4.6 seconds on its way to a quarter-mile time of 13.3 seconds.

However, the CT5 lineup also features the tire-vaping CT5-V Blackwing. During testing, the Blackwing’s 668-hp supercharged 6.2-liter engine catapulted the Cadillac from a standstill to 60 mph in just 3.6 seconds.

How does Lucid compare to Tesla?

The Lucid Air is a worthy competitor to the Tesla Model S. For example, Lucid says the Air Dream version will cover an impressive 520 miles on a single charge. That’s much longer than the Tesla Model S Long Range, which is about 405 miles.

On top of that, the Lucid Air Dream Performance Edition hit 60 mph in just 2.6 seconds in our Car and Driver tests. This puts her about half a second behind. With that, it also topped out at 173 mph, up from 162. Still, EVs aren’t up to the task of beating the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat’s 203-mph top speed.

Are the BMW M5 and M8 the best fast sedans?

The BMW M5 and M8 take the fourth and fifth spots on TrueCar’s list of the best fast sedans for 2023. Both Bavarian beasts have a starting price of more than $100,000, but they earn their place with the snappy acceleration, refined designs, and handling characteristics that fans have come to expect from BMW M cars.

The M5 is a custom four-door sedan, while the M8 is available as a two-door hardtop or convertible. Given that the 2023 M5 can hit 60 mph in just 2.6 seconds, BMW’s supercar sedans are some of the last words in sleeper performance.
