Trucks are among the most popular vehicles available, with their sleek designs, powerful engines, towing prowess, off-road capabilities, interior comfort and refinement. However, it is not an affordable option for some car shoppers. There is a notable exception, though: the 2023 Ram 1500 Classic. It is the cheapest new Ram model and the least expensive in the United States.

With a starting price of $30,695 MSRP, the 2023 1500 is the cheapest new Ram model available in the United States. The next affordable new Ram vehicles are the 2022 Ram Promaster City pickup ($32,580 MSRP) and the 2023 Ram 1500 ($37,410 MSRP).

, so some readers may be surprised to learn that the American automaker also offers pickup trucks. Along with the ProMaster City, this includes the larger ProMaster truck. However, ProMaster City will soon be discontinued. The 2022 ProMaster City is still available, but there will be no 2023 version.

Besides being the cheapest new Ram model, the 2023 Ram 1500 Classic is the most affordable new full-size pickup truck in the U.S. It’s a full-size truck deal. The cheapest new full-size pickup trucks are the 2023 ($34,585 MSRP) and 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500 ($36,300 MSRP).

Last year, Chevrolet and GMC offered limited availability, affordable versions of their popular full-size pickup trucks with the Chevy Silverado 1500 LTD and GMC Sierra 1500 Limited. However, neither model is any longer for sale on the automakers’ website — and it’s unknown if they’ll bring them back in 2023.

The 2023 Ram 1500 Classic is the previous-generation version of the standard model. It also has fewer premium amenities and not quite as high a level of luxury. However, the Ram 1500 Classic is still a high-quality truck—and offers excellent value with a wide range of standard and available features.

Engine options for the affordable truck include a 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 with 395 horsepower and a 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 with 305 horsepower. When equipped with the V-8 engine, it can tow up to 10,620 lbs. Notable features include the Uconnect infotainment system with an 8.4-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto phone integration, a rearview camera, trailer sway control, forward collision warning, and hill start assist.
