Ford F-150 regular cab
The 2023 Ford F-150 is KBB’s “Full-Size Truck Best Buy of 2023,” with the regular cab model starting at $33,695. KBB’s review calls it “capable” and “comfortable” but notes the lack of a diesel engine option.
While it’s undoubtedly an exceptional value, it’s only available on the base XL model and $41,800 XLT trim levels. So if you’re looking for a little more luxury, you’ll want to consider other models.
The regular cab’s powertrain includes a 290-horsepower 3.3-liter flexible-fuel V6 with Auto Start/Stop technology, a ten-speed automatic transmission, and two-wheel drive with a rear axle ratio of 3.55:1. Drive system options include:
- 2.7-liter twin-turbo V6 making 325 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque
- 5.0L V8 producing 400 HP and 410 lb-ft of torque
The F-150’s regular cab seats three with a 40/20/40 fabric-upholstered bench seat that includes fold-down armrests, cup holders, storage, and an eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat. Dual-zone automatic climate controls keep occupants comfortable. Optional electrically adjustable pedals and a manual tilt/telescoping steering wheel ensure a comfortable fit for every driver, from small to tall.
The regular cab F-150 occupies the lowest levels of the lineup, leaning more toward a work truck than a luxury sedan. It can tow up to 13,000 pounds and payloads up to 3,315 pounds with its 5.0-liter V8 engine.
However, in XLT trim, the F-150’s economy regular cab offers the ability to tow camper trailers and large boats in relative comfort and style.
Ford F-150 Super Cab
Like the Regular Cab, it is only available for the XL and XLT trim levels but offers seating for six. Pricing for the F-150 XL super cab starts at $38,305, while the XLT is $45,090.
The SuperCab features the same base driveline and all options as the regular cab model, but adds options for a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 rated at 400 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque.
A new engine option increases towing capacity to 14,000 pounds but reduces payload capacity to 3,235. Like the smaller Regular Cab, the SuperCab offers an economy package capable of towing a camper, boat, or other trailer loaded with gear for a family adventure, except it has interior space for the family, too. .
Ford F-150 SuperCrew cab
Choosing the F-150’s SuperCrew Cab opens up all trim levels and provides more room for rear seat passengers. The XL SuperCrew cab starts at $40,640 and includes the same basic drivetrain as other models. However, most SuperCrews have a 3.5-liter hybrid option with 430 hp and 570 lb-ft of torque capable of towing up to 12,700 lb-ft for $3,300.
The $84,910 Limited trim includes a hybrid powertrain and all-wheel drive with an electronically locking axle with a 3.73:1 ratio. The F-150 Tremor offers more towing, payload and off-road capability starting at $60,970.
Finally, the $76,775 Raptor, with its optional 5.2-liter V8 making 700 horsepower, takes the off-road concept of a full-size pickup truck to the next level.
