This fiberglass-like monster is “The Beast.” Built in the 1970s, its two main features are its exotic proportions and Rolls-Royce Merlin engine. Looks weird you see already. What you can’t see is the giant 27-liter V12 tank engine. It’s all about it, and it can be a perfect replacement for your regular pickup truck.

The rest of the cabin is a small car collection. More like a 60’s car-like set. But The Beast isn’t about contemporary trends, it’s about atrocities. That applies to his top speed, which is over 183 miles per hour, a figure that beat the last time Dodd explored his speed limits in 1977.

The four wheel disc brakes are a relief knowing they are not drum brakes. They hide behind Centerline modular wheels. The Merlin transfers power to a GM three-speed automatic transmission. This rotates the coilover that supports the rear end of the nine-inch Ford, where the Jaguar unit once stood. We expect the engine setback to deliver somewhat balanced performance, not that we expect this thing to be racing.

One of the best parts about this freak is that Dodd continued to maintain it, before he died at 90 last year, continued to use it, and work on it. So you’re getting a station wagon that’s ready to run, not a project. And you will be given a car with the title “The, 1977” awarded by the Guinness Book of World Records.

The materials describe that when “The Beast blazes to life, the earth shakes. No hyperbole, no sales talk, you can feel it shaking everything around it.” That should be the icing on the cake for 4×4 fans looking for something a little different in their driving fun.
