When it was first introduced, the Maverick marked the return of pickups here in the States. And right from the start, it has been a huge success with no signs of slowing down in terms of sales. Indeed, the feeling is impossible now. But is Ford’s pickup truck capable enough to handle off-road use? With the 2023 Ford Maverick Tremor, that might be the case.
What is the FX4 Off-Road Package on a Ford Maverick?
The FX4 Off-Road package is an option for Ford’s minivans that adds things like all-terrain tires, a better cooling system, and other off-road stuff. But it is no longer the best pickup truck.
Not new to Ford Trucks. It’s featured on things like the Ranger, F-150, and even the Ford Super Duty. It’s also an option on the smallest truck Blue Oval builds. But, if you want to, you’ll have to choose XLT or Lariat trims with the 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine.
The Tremor package helps this off-road truck
Now, it’s covered in depth. But I felt it was worth reconsidering if you were wondering if you could drive the car off-road. This pickup truck won’t get anywhere the Jeep Wrangler can, but it still can.
For $2,995, the Tremor package adds a 1.0-inch lift kit, proprietary all-wheel drive, and better approach angle. The Maverick Tremor’s angle of approach is 30.7 degrees, which is an improvement over the standard truck.
Accordingly, all of these upgrades come together to make a pickup truck that can handle life on the road. Ford could have easily made the Tremor package a bit of an appearance package. But the blue oval has taken the time to make something that might be worth getting.
Can You Buy a 2023 Ford Maverick Tremor?
Unfortunately, you might not be out of luck if you want a Ford pickup. As it is, the order books have been closed for some time. But Ford has plans to increase production of this pickup truck. Hopefully, that means more people can actually get one.
I see a lot of Ford Mavericks in my area, but I certainly haven’t seen one sitting in a dealership location. This shows how popular this car is. Blue Oval simply hasn’t been able to keep up with the demand for its better cars.
Time will tell if this pickup truck becomes more widely available. But if you want an off-road pickup, the Maverick Tremor might be one of the best options out there. Hyundai does not have an off-road version of the Santa Cruz, so this Ford product is probably objectively better in this regard.
