What Now? The Ford F-150 Lightning Is Going Back Into Production

After some issues with its batteries, the F-150 Lightning is set to re-enter production. Back in February, production was paused in order to find out what went wrong with this electric truck. But Blue Oval seems to have found a solution. It was very popular. So, resuming production will help Ford get this electric vehicle into the hands of consumers.

Is the F-150 Lightning available?

Ford’s electric F-150 Lightning is in production, but getting it actually going to be tough. Unless you’ve placed an initial order for one, Blue Oval has struggled to keep up with demand. This is especially true after the company had to pause production to deal with issues.

It proved to be a popular truck. And while the Lightning rides on the same platform as the regular F-150, complications can be fairly common when building an EV. This applies even more to the batteries that are being used.

Accordingly, a quality problem was detected in the batteries. Now, Blue Oval didn’t reveal exactly that, but apparently, the team has been working to find out. Now, production is expected to resume on March 13. So hopefully this means more people will be taking their orders from electric vans.

The 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning is very popular

As Ford’s first electric truck, it generated excitement from the moment it was introduced. And it doesn’t look like that popularity is going anywhere anytime soon. People seem to really appreciate the fact that you can have an EV with the practicality of a pickup truck. Even if Ford Lightning has had some price increases and quality control issues.

The maximum range for an EV truck is 320 miles. But the cheapest option has a range of 230 miles. Compared to other electric vehicles, this may not seem like a huge range. But other trucks in this segment aren’t much better.

Overall, outside of cost, there doesn’t seem to be much of a compromise between the Lightning and the gas-powered F-150. Perhaps the biggest one is being able to get one. Due to the high demand, ordering is almost impossible at the moment.

Is Ford Lightning worth it?

As an electric truck, this Ford truck brings a lot to the table. It really does look and feel like a regular pickup truck, though it’s powered by batteries rather than an internal combustion engine.

At the end of the day, though, a product like this is only great if people can actually buy it. And until Blue Oval is able to ramp up production, that could be a bit of a problem. But hey, at least this electric car is in production and is being delivered. That’s more than can be said for some of the other electric truck hopefuls.
