An unfortunate fact regarding the automotive industry is that some excellent ones are discontinued. Naturally, many people are thinking about options such as interruption. However, several other notable SUVs are no longer in production. Automakers always have their reasons for discontinuing vehicles, but auto enthusiasts still want their favorites back, just like the 2021 Bronco already did.

Here are three discontinued SUVs that need a comeback.

It’s faster than many sports cars. This SUV was significantly faster than the V8 Mustang of the same model year. Furthermore, it was even faster than the Ferrari 348ts. This discontinued SUV runs through the quarter-mile test in just 14.1 seconds at 95mph.

Unfortunately, GMC discontinued the Typhoon SUV after just two model years and just 4,697 units produced. As for the GMC Envoy, the automaker produced it for two generations between 1998 and 2009. Sadly, GMC discontinued the midsize SUV due to low sales. In today’s world, there are several directions GMC could take a brand new envoy.

The Mitsubishi Montero is a discontinued SUV that needs a comeback

Mitsubishi Montero entered the market in the early 80s. It remained in production for four generations. However, before its final demise after the 2006 model year, the Montero had amassed quite the following. However, the vehicle was not as popular in its later years due to the rise of the crossover.

Despite being in production for so long, it holds a special place in the hearts of many. According to , the 1990 Mitsubishi Montero has a 3.0-liter V6 engine under the hood. This Montero model has a maximum horsepower of 143 and a torque of 168 lb-ft. Many will remember that the automaker also made the Mitsubishi Montero Sport.

The Nissan Xterra is an icon when it comes to discontinued SUVs. Nissan made this off-road-focused SUV until 2015. Unfortunately, the Xterra simply didn’t fit into modern vehicles. Crossovers stole market share, and Nissan’s SUV had terrible fuel economy.

The is among the most talked about from the SUV lineup. The 2015 Xterra has a 4.0-liter V6 engine with a maximum output of 261 horsepower. It accelerates from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 6.5 seconds to 7 seconds. Despite the SUV’s performance, many people genuinely like the Xterra’s exterior because it’s super tough.

Of course, many other discontinued SUVs need a comeback. However, the GMC Typhoon, Mitsubishi Montero and Nissan Xterra are beyond iconic. And, of course, the GMC Envoy deserves an honorable mention.
