3 of the Least Reliable Pickup Trucks on Consumer Reports Are Some of the Most Popular Trucks

Pickups occupy an odd space in the auto market. On the other hand, pickup trucks are supposed to be the most useful vehicle. This means that they must be practical, tough and reliable. However, pickup trucks have shifted somewhere along the way. It seems that reliability and durability are becoming less important than features and furnishings. In fact, three of the most popular trucks on the road are Consumer Reports.

What are the least reliable pickup trucks?

It takes into account all aspects when classifying vehicles. One measure is expected reliability. Consumer Reports explains how those numbers come up here:

According to 2022 truck sales, General Motors, Ford F-series and Chevy Silverado took the top spot with the third spot in sales in that order. GM truck nameplates combined sold 754,876, Ford F-Series sold 653,957, and Chevy sold 513,354 Silverados. 241,522 GMC Sierras sold, landing that nameplate in fifth place behind Ram trucks.

The Venn diagram for the least reliable pickup trucks and the most popular pickup trucks is roughly a circle. This is hard to understand. However, at least anecdotally, truck buyers are the choice.

Are these bad pickups?

Just because Consumer Reports predicts poor reliability, that doesn’t mean it is will You have a problem. The truth is, people buy s, Chevy Silverados, and GMC Siearas by the buckets. And for many people, these trucks offer everything customers need. Also, for some, the extra maintenance is worth it to continue owning a Ford pickup truck or whatever model they owe.

It’s also important to note that while people who use trucks (myself included) can be weird, this phenomenon isn’t particularly specific to my truckers. Jaguar has been known for its unreliability for decades, and people still love it. Look at Alfa Romeo, too. The point is, the evidence shows we like to buy the cars we like, and it’s not always the best cars.
