Another addition for the 2023 Honda Pilot midsize SUV is the new TrailSport trim. SUVs with off-road capabilities are in high demand as drivers want to experience wilderness adventures. Honda fulfills this request with the Pilot TrailSport. However, the 2023 Traverse doesn’t offer an off-road model.
For the exterior design, the TrailSport has an even more rugged look than the standard Pilot model. It also comes with features for off-the-beaten-path excursions. This includes an off-road system with trail torque logic, a TrailWatch camera system, 18-inch wheels with inserted spokes and stabilizer bars.
Plus, there’s an off-road-tuned suspension, which provides extra ground clearance with an inch of lift. Additionally, for optimal traction on rough terrain, the TrailSport comes standard with the enhanced i-VTM4 torque vectoring all-wheel drive system.
Other strengths of the Honda rider over the Chevy Traverse
In addition to its redesign and new TrailSport model, the 2023 midsize SUV has other strengths over the 2023 Traverse. It’s had a growth spurt, resulting in what Honda says is a class-leading amount of interior space. That includes a generous amount of stowage space, with a maximum cargo capacity of 113.7 cubic feet, compared to the Traverse’s 98.2 cubic feet. Additionally, the Pilot has plenty of cup holders and useful storage compartments.
Also, like other new Honda models, the Pilot offers a new free maintenance plan, with two years or 24,000 miles of coverage. However, it doesn’t offer a free maintenance plan. Also, the pilot is slightly more efficient for city driving. It has estimated gas mileage of up to 19 mpg city/27 highway, compared to 18 mpg city/27 highway for the Traverse.
With its redesign, the 2023 Honda Pilot has a huge advantage over the 2023 Chevy Traverse. When making a choice between the two midsize SUVs, the redesign is a crucial factor to keep in mind.
