What does the ZR2 mean on Chevrolet?
In 2017, Colorado introduced the ZR2. It’s meant to be an off-road truck that’s ready for just about anything the average driver will throw at it. Think of it as a competitor to something like the Pro.

For 2023, the Chevy Colorado is all-new. It appears that several kinks in the ZR2’s trim have been resolved.

From the factory, ready for life on the road. Under the hood is a 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. And while you may crave a V6, this engine puts out 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. It gives you legitimacy as you handle 4×4 situations.
In addition, you get 10.7 inches of ground clearance, 33-inch tires, and a lockable differential. Another feature is the multi-spool valve dampers to provide comfort when dealing with rough terrain.

Well, I’m not going to beat around the bush. Most people who buy a truck for around $50,000 may not be off-roading every weekend. Extreme off-roaders often buy cheaper cars and make the adjustments themselves. For this reason, it’s important for the ZR2 to feel comfortable when it’s on the pavement.
Inside, Chevy has given much needed attention to materials. It feels modern, with soft-touch materials where you need it. In terms of technology, you get Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, thanks to the 11.3-inch touchscreen.
That’s not all; Chevy Colorado ZR2 can display various information that you may need when you are off road. This information includes tire pressure, pitch and roll, and transfer case status. Up to 10 different camera views can be added for an additional fee.
The Colorado ZR2 isn’t cheap
When it comes to cost, all of these capabilities don’t come cheap. According to the 2023 Colorado ZR2, the MSRP is approximately $50,000. By comparison, the Work Spec model starts at just over $30,000.
Unless you plan to go off-road a lot or really want a mid-size truck, it’s available in different trim levels. Including two others that focus on toughness, such as the Z71 and Colorado Trail Boss. Ultimately, it comes down to your personal preference and budget.
