1 Outdated Full-Size Truck Desperately Needs a Redesign

No matter the quality or appeal of a car, they all need a redesign at some point. Over time, cars and SUVs began to look outdated and less attractive to customers. As a result, automakers are changing everything about them. Moving into the modern era is a great way to restore attention to a particular model, increase sales, and gain new interest. For 2023, an old full-size truck badly needs a redesign. When will he receive more important updates?

The old Nissan Titan is in dire need of a restyling

If you’ve been racking your brains trying to figure out which full-size truck needs a redesign and have forgotten about it, you’re not alone. For years, the Titan has been at the bottom of the list for most consumers. With competition like the Ford F-150, Chevy Silverado, Ram 1500, and even Toyota Tundra available, Nissan’s model is far from over the top. We think a complete redesign of the truck would have helped the 2023 Titan.

The 2023 Nissan Titan is still part of the second generation of the model that was introduced in 2016. With a seven-year-old exterior and interior, it’s no surprise that the Titan looks outdated. Other parts of the truck also feel dated. As the post pointed out, the internal storage is below par, something other models have improved greatly in recent years. “It just doesn’t have enough personality to make up for the lack of choice in engines, features and body styles offered by competitors,” Edmunds said.

The V8 engine is excellent, there are no other options

In addition to the overall full-size truck design, it is outdated in other respects. The powertrain could also use a redesign. Since it is not a lineup but only one unit, the Nissan model would benefit from more options. Every Titan comes with a 5.6-liter V8 engine that produces 400 horsepower and 413 lb-ft of torque. Most critics love the standard engine for its power, smooth ride, and ability. Despite its ability to tow 9,310 pounds, the Titan is nowhere near the top in its class.

Unfortunately, the standard V8 isn’t good enough. The competition has a much greater variety. For example, a smaller V6 allows customers to pay less for a truck if they don’t need a V8. Next, a hybrid option to improve fuel economy (and sometimes increase power). Finally, many competitors offer a diesel option, which offers similar power and performance with longer-lasting capabilities and better fuel economy. Since the Titan doesn’t have any of these options, many who want one will opt for a different model.

There is no off-road performance

Finally, we think it could pull off a high-performance, off-road-focused model. All of the most popular full-size trucks have one in the lineup – for example, the Ford F-150 Raptor and. Even the Chevrolet Silverado has the ZR2 model in its lineup, which pales in comparison to the Raptor and TRX but is more capable off-road than any Titan. Only the off-road-capable Pro-4X model is in Nissan’s lineup. Unfortunately, it only uses the same 5.6-liter engine and gets skid plates and all-wheel drive for off-road driving.

In comparison, the Raptor has a supercharged 3.5-liter V6 that’s good for 400 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque. It gets 17-inch alloy wheels, 35-inch all-terrain tires, a 36-gallon gas tank, off-road suspension, adaptive Fox shocks, and six-key installation. The Raptor R upgrade is much more expensive but adds a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 with 700 hp and 640 lb-ft. Ram’s TRX offering is similar in many ways.

These models sell well and draw attention to full-size trucks. For the Nissan Titan, nothing comes close to rivaling these popular models.

An old full-size truck that needs a redesign

To conclude, there is one full-size truck that desperately needs a redesign, the Nissan Titan. Several competitors have received significant redesigns and upgrades in the past few years. However, we’re approaching a decade since the unpopular Titan underwent major changes. Without exterior and interior improvements, a handful of powertrain options, and an off-road performance model, we don’t expect to see the Titan compete with the Ford F-150, Ram 1500, or Chevy Silverado for a while.
